In an already crowded trail running calendar, what made you want to create this new race?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4238004 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4238004\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our club, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.extrapedestres.fr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les Extrap\u00e9destres<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is now one of the largest in the region, with over 260 members. Historically, we had been organising a traditional local trail race for more than 30 years, with distances of 12 km and 24 km.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the rapid growth of trail running in France and the increasing popularity of longer formats, especially ultra-trails, we wanted to take things to the next level. Our region, the Lot Valley, is perfectly suited for this type of event. The idea was therefore to create a race of national standing, matching the potential of our territory.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1733f25 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1733f25\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Q2. Your race received excellent reviews from its very first edition. Did you expect such feedback?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-120675b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"120675b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We were pleasantly surprised by the level of enthusiasm from the moment registrations opened, almost 10 months before race day. Very quickly, we sensed strong interest, both on social media and within the trail running community.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The appeal of the Lot Valley\u2014its heritage, landscapes, and welcoming atmosphere\u2014clearly played a key role. The \u201cnew race\u201d factor also attracted many runners looking for fresh experiences.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed0a011 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ed0a011\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Q3. Runners praised the flawless organisation and \u201ctop-level\u201d volunteers. How important is the human aspect of your event?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c99f967 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c99f967\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The human experience was at the heart of our project. We mobilised no fewer than <\/span><b>210 volunteers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over three days. All of them were trained and prepared in advance to ensure smooth organisation without improvisation.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our club is deeply committed to values such as sharing, mutual support, and friendliness. We knew this first edition would be crucial for the race\u2019s image, and that started with delivering an outstanding welcome.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dfb8c6d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"dfb8c6d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Q4. The aid stations left a strong impression. Was that a deliberate choice?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ef6a763 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ef6a763\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Absolutely. We are fortunate to be based in a region renowned for its gastronomy. We wanted to showcase local products by working with artisans from Cahors.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cheeses, cured meats, pastries\u2026 everything was designed to offer runners a unique experience. Many were impressed by both the quality and generosity of the aid stations, which have now become one of the race\u2019s key highlights.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3799afe elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3799afe\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Q5. The course is described as varied and beautiful. How did you design it?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58fa0fb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"58fa0fb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designing the course was probably the most complex part. A good trail route needs the right balance between runnable sections, technical trails, climbs, descents, and scenic viewpoints.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We relied on our deep knowledge of the area while navigating many constraints: Natura 2000 protected zones, agreements with landowners, forestry regulations\u2026<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was a long and demanding process involving 12 municipalities, but essential to create a course that is both challenging, accessible, and visually stunning.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-28a3ab7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"28a3ab7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Q6. Some runners are already saying they will return.
