Wow!
What an awesome event. If you fancy trying something different with your trail running then I urge you to give this a go. The central hub had party vibes all night with food, fun and an awesome 12 hour DJ. The course was mapped out around some awesome private land winding through forrest, apple orchard, farm areas. Didn’t complete but had such a great experience I will be returning with even more determination next year!

Costa 200 was extreme, but an incredible course to complete. I’m a local — Costa Rican — and many people think the climate gives me an advantage, but believe it or not, the humidity in this country is something I really struggle with. I do think I had an edge when it came to the type of terrain, and that’s where I was able to perform really well.
Crossing Costa Rica from the Caribbean to the Pacific is a dream for many, and the beauty along the way is truly unforgettable. I’ve become known for completing some of the toughest ultramarathons on the planet, and Costa 200 has definitely made it onto my list of favorites.
I had the chance to win the overall race, and that’s something I’ll carry with me forever — in my mind and in my heart. I invite anyone who wants to try these kinds of events — where not only your physical strength but also your mental resilience is tested — to take on this challenge.
I 100% recommend adding this event to your athletic résumé!

Costa 200 fue algo extremo, pero un recorrido increíble de completar. Soy local, costarricense, y muchos creen me favorece el clima pero aunque no lo crean la humedad de este país me cuesta gestionarla. Creo si tuve ventajas en el
Tipo de terreno y ahí pude desenvolverme muy bien. Recorrer Costa Rica del caribe al pacífico es el sueño de muchos y tanta belleza es imposible de olvidar. Me he caracterizado por completar las ultra maratones más difíciles del planeta y Costa 200 entra en la lista de mis favoritas. Tuve la oportunidad de ganar la general y es algo que llevaré siempre en la mente y el corazón. Invito a los que desean porbar este tipo de eventos en los que se pone a prueba o solo la fuerza física sino la capacidad mental para avanzar a pesar de las condiciones!

I was lucky to be a pioneer of this event! It has been an incredible experience — the beauty of the place is so distracting that at times you forget how tough the course is and how hard it is to breathe. I’m Costa Rican, and in a tropical country like Costa Rica, it’s hard to find the kind of mountains needed to prepare for a race with the conditions found in Ladakh.
Even so, I wanted to face the altitude and the extreme temperature changes. I did have issues with the cold, but that doesn’t overshadow how proud I am of completing 110 km and feeling good all the way up to the point where the temperature dropped significantly.
I will definitely be back, and I invite the ultratrail community to try this experience — but be very aware that finishing this race takes a lot of experience, and both physical and mental preparation!

Tuve la suerte de ser pionera de este evento! Ha sido una experiencia increíble, la belleza del lugar desconcentra tanto que por momentos se olvida la dureza del recorrido y la falta de aire. Soy costarricense y en un país tropical como Costa Rica difícilmente encuentre las montañas ideales para preparar una carrera con las condiciones que reunía Ladakh. A pesar de quise enfrentar la altura, las altas y bajas temperaturas. Tuve problemas con el frío sin embargo eso no va a opacar lo satisfecha que estoy de haber completado 110 kms y sentirme bien hasta el punto máximo que bajo mucho la temperatura. Sin duda volveré e invito a la comunidad de ultratrail a probar esta experiencia eso si muy conscientes que para ser finalista de esta prueba se requiere mucha experiencia y preparación física y mental!
