Who we are

Lucian

Founder

I’m an amateur trail runner and outdoor enthusiast who fell in love with the sport for its connection to nature, its challenge, and its community. The idea for TrailRunAdvisor came to me after a race in 2023, and I launched the platform in early 2024 to help runners discover and share authentic experiences from trails around the world.

I’ve run races from 20K to 100K across diverse landscapes — from the Pyrenees to the Balearic and Canary Islands, from the plains of Romania to the rugged beauty of Wales, France, and Italy. I’m drawn to wide horizons, sunny climates, the sea and the mountains — but I’m also a passionate skier and a lifelong fan of all sports, from rugby and basketball to football.

Trail running, for me, is not just about performance — it’s about discovery, connection, and being present in the wild.

Gareth

Executive Director

I’m a lifelong trail runner with a deep love for the mountains and the ultra-distance mindset. Over the years, I’ve completed races like the Marathon des Sables or Swiss Alps 100 miles, and tackled FKTs on routes like the Taff Trail and Brecon Beacons. I’ve also found success in backyard ultra formats, winning several last-runner-standing events that test not just endurance, but resilience.

Trail running changed my life — it became a way to rebuild after years of struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. The rhythm of long days on the trails gave me clarity, discipline, and a sense of purpose.

I joined TrailRunAdvisor to give something back to the community that helped me so much — helping others find real, honest race insights and feel part of something bigger.

Sports have shaped my journey, from karate and gymnastics to basketball and CrossFit. But my true passion lies in the mountains and trail running—not for pace or performance, but for the freedom it brings.

I prefer long races, 100 km events, where hours alone in the silence of the mountains become moments of introspection and peace. In Portugal, I find serenity in the Serra do Marão, but the Picos de Europa truly speak to my soul.

As part of the TrailRunAdvisor ambassador team, I believe in honest athlete-to-athlete insights on trail races. I also belong to Girlstrailcamp, a community of women united by a love for trail running and adventure.

The mountains and sports are woven into my DNA—a perfect fusion of strength, freedom, and authenticity.

I’ve always been passionate about sports, but for nearly 20 years, I lived a mostly sedentary life. In 2020, I returned to the mountains with the goal of losing weight — and that’s when I discovered trail running. Over the past three years, it has become a true passion.

I started with vertical races, then gradually increased the distances, going from 10 km to 50 km, and eventually tackling races up to 140 km, like the Tor130. I found that long distances not only pushed me physically but also gave me immense mental benefits.

Trail running has allowed me to explore breathtaking landscapes and connect with runners who share the same love for the sport — friendships built on a deep and mutual passion.

I joined the TrailRunAdvisor project because I believe in giving visibility to lesser-known races set in beautiful locations, and I’m excited to help grow a real community of enthusiasts who share information and experiences.

I’ve always been passionate about sports, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I truly found my element in the mountains. What started as a personal challenge quickly became a lifestyle. Trail running gave me something I didn’t know I was missing, a sense of freedom, purpose, and connection to nature.

I now train regularly, dedicating 10 to 15 hours a week to running, strength, and mobility work, pushing my limits both physically and mentally. Over time, I’ve completed several ultra-trail races like UTMB 170km in 2017, TransGranCanaria, MIUT, and several Ironman competitions. I’m constantly looking for new challenges that test endurance and mindset.

What I love most about trail running isn’t just the competition, it’s the landscapes, the solitude, the camaraderie. There’s a special bond that forms with others who share the same grit, love for the outdoors, and respect for the effort it takes to move through the mountains. Beyond racing, I enjoy sharing my journey through social media, partnering with brands I believe in, and connecting with a growing community of fellow runners and adventurers, that’s why I joined TrailRunAdvisor.
