Estonia Ultra-Trail Race (EUTR)

5

Very technical, wild, and muddy 63k course. It features a tough mix of swamps, sand, stones, overgrown nettles, and a massive amount of fallen trees (way more than last year). The single tracks are narrow, making overtaking difficult.
Probably I will be back. Again.

Race description

The Estonia Ultra-Trail Race (EUTR), organized by the Estonia Trail Running Club, is entering its 9th edition this year. The event has become one of the most rugged and authentic trail running experiences in the Baltics.

Although Estonia has no high mountains, the course offers a completely different challenge that runners often call the “Estonian Jungle.” Rather than elevation, the difficulty comes from the raw and untamed terrain. Participants run through dense forests, swamps, and overgrown paths — sometimes so wild that the trail only truly appears once runners pass through it — as well as along the dramatic coastline of the Gulf of Finland. Expect a highly technical course with waist-high grass, fallen trees, and constantly changing terrain.

Race distances
EUTR – 126 km: the ultimate challenge and a true test of survival in the Estonian wilderness.
CUT – 63 km (Coast Ultra Trail): a demanding route along forest and coastal trails.
TTW – 33 km (Trail Through Wilds): a shorter but intense race, with around 80% of the course deep in the “jungle.”
T16 – 16 km: a compact but challenging introduction to the race terrain.
Breakout 126: a unique 126 km category designed for wheelchair athletes on asphalt sections.

The race is built on a strong personal commitment from the organizer, who marks the entire course by hand and sweeps it after the event to ensure clear navigation for runners and minimal impact on the surrounding nature.
